Why LARC? | |
Jay Jackson Founder of the Los Angeles Reporter's Clinic When I started the Los Angeles Reporter's Clinic in 2004, I was determined to do one thing: produce the finest entry-level broadcast journalists in America. It wasn't enough to just have a great tape; LARC produces great new(s) journalists. After 4 years, LARC has helped dozens of students go from dreaming about being reporters and anchors to living their dreams. Our graduates are starting in major markets such as Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Detroit and Miami. Now, it's your turn. I was so determined to produce America's best new reporters, I left my career as an award winning reporter at CBS/KCAL in Los Angeles to focus on getting my graduates started in news. Now, with more of our graduates working as first-time reporters, anchors and hosts than any other resume tape service in the world, I'm more determined than ever to help you. I know how you feel right now. You'd do just about anything to get into the news business. I know some of you would work for little or no money at all if you just had a shot. But the simple fact is, you need a resume tape first. News directors barely know you exist without a resume tape, even if you're a production assistant or intern working inside of a station. You have to have something to show them what you can do. You need something to convince them you can handle breaking news, conduct important interviews and write as good as any reporter. You will have all of that and so much more on your LARC resume tape. Our students come from around the world to produce a resume tape in Los Angeles, the media capital of the planet. You won't have to make up fake stories, phony scripts and bogus stand-ups in the LARC Premium reporter class. You'll never have to steal video and sound-bites from real news programs to make a tape, which is illegal. At LARC, you'll be at the scene of the story, covering wildfires, SWAT standoffs and interviewing celebrities. That's why we stand by our motto: Real News - Real Reporters. So if you still have to ask why LARC? Perhaps, when you consider our success and your determination, the better question is - why not LARC?
